Chapter: 2499
“Maybe you'll change your mind in a few days!"

Laura hummed a noncommittal response, somewhat naively, watching him drive away before stepping into the elevator to go home.

Upon exiting the elevator, Laura was met with a surprising sight. A tall figure, dressed formally, leaned against her doorstep. His long legs seemed almost too large for the space.

It was Edwin.

Laura hesitated inside the elevator, watching as the doors opened and closed repeatedly.

Finally, Edwin stepped forward, gently pulling her out. She wore a black coat over her dress, cinched at the waist, her slender figure apparent.

"Keys," Edwin requested.

Laura took a step back, firm yet composed.

“We can talk here.”

She leaned against the wall, her voice soft but steady.

"Yes, Uncle Mark spoke to me. I promised him I'd stay away from you, Edwin.

Please, don't come here again."

Edwin's expression grew more intense as he noticed the absence of the necklace around her neck.

His voice was husky with emotion.

"Let's talk inside. It's cold here."

But Laura remained unmoved.

Edwin stepped closer, effectively pinning her against the wall as he reached into her pocket for the keys.

"Edwin!" she protested, biting her lip.

Silently, Edwin opened the door, gesturing for her to enter.

“Let's talk inside."
