Chapter: 3485
She knelt down on the floor and cradled his face in her hands. The shape of his face strongly resembled Melissa's, but his facial features were so identical to that of Marcus. She could tell when Matthew got older, he would certainly look like his father more. With this thought in her mind, she gave him a kiss on the cheek and said, “What a lovely boy you are! He's such a sweet kid, Waylen."
Waylen also kissed the child and said in a proud voice, "After all, he's a member of the Fowler family."
Rena rolled her eyes at him but didn't bother to argue with him at all.
She picked Matthew up and then sat him down on the sofa. Then she turned to Julie to ask whether the child had had dinner yet.
“Yes, yes!" Julie hurriedly replied.
"He had some pork ribs. That's his favorite dish."
Waylen felt Julie had done a great job in taking care of the child and his mother.
He wanted to thank her properly for all she had done, but he then changed his mind and kept quiet.
After a while, he stole a glance at Rena who was sitting quietly with Matthew on the sofa.
He didn't want to be too forward. No matter how smart he was, he knew that his wife was smarter, and she probably had a better idea on how to handle the current situation.
Of course, their main aim was to take Matthew back with them.
But at the moment, that did not seem very possible. Obviously, Marcus and Melissa were still not reconciled. Hence, Waylen and Rena couldn't just snatch the little boy from Melissa by force.
Meanwhile, Julie wasn't sure about their plans for Matthew and hesitated to voice out her concerns.
Waylen bent down again and touched Matthew's head affectionately as he mused out loud, "It'd be better to leave Marcus and Melissa settle things on their own. After all, it's not appropriate for us to get involved in the affairs of a couple. However, this apartment is way too small for four people to live in. How could Marcus be so careless? He needs to arrange a bigger house. I will talk to him about it later."
“Exactly! It's too crowded for four people," Rena concurred.
"I'm glad you can see what I mean," Waylen said in satisfaction.
“In fact, we need to look for somewhere better. Moreover, the young couple should have some private space of their own. Let's talk about it later and make sure we arrange everything as quickly as possible."
Julie was surprised to hear them discussing this issue.
She was not sure whether Waylen and Rena had any clue about the situation on ground.
Marcus and Melissa hadn't seen each other for three years. Even though they had a child together, it would take some time before they would be able to find a way to get along with each other again.
