Chapter: 3832
"Mr. Fowler attended a business lunch earlier. On his way back, the car swerved to avoid some pedestrians and hit a lamp pole. It's nothing too serious, but the doctor mentioned there's a blood clot near his eye nerves. Therefore, Mr. Fowler needs to remain in the hospital for further observation."
Melissa's heart skipped a beat in alarm.
Hastily, she inquired, "Which hospital is he in?"
Sylvia promptly provided the address and added, “Mr. Fowler's parents are present as well. We don't want to frighten you, but Mr. Fowler wants to see you."
Melissa felt a wave of anxiety wash over her, but she struggled to keep her emotions in check and avoid breaking down in tears.
She was carrying Marcus' long-awaited child, and she couldn't bear to let anything jeopardize the baby's well-being.
Melissa didn't drive herself; she called for a driver instead.
Coincidentally, Shawn was visiting, so he offered to drive Melissa to the hospital. Concerned about Melissa's condition, Julie joined them in the car.
The scene was set in the VIP ward of a private hospital.
Marcus sat quietly on the bed, appearing composed. Waylen, Rena, Alexis, and Elva were all gathered around him.
As soon as Melissa entered the room, Marcus turned his head uncertainly and asked, "Melissa, is that you?"
Melissa halted at the doorway, silently observing Marcus. Though he smiled at her, his eyes lacked focus.
Was he... blind?
Melissa replied with difficulty, “Yes, it's me! I called, but Sylvia answered."
Waylen stepped aside to allow Melissa to approach.
Other members of the Fowler family were present in the ward, including Marcus’ parents. Despite knowing she should hold back, when Melissa noticed Marcus' anxious expression and the concern in his eyes, she couldn't focus on anything else.
Gently, she cupped Marcus’ face in her hands and asked, “Does it hurt?"
Feeling her touch, Marcus gradually calmed down. He shook his head and replied, “No, not at all. It's just a mild concussion. And... I can't see anything at the moment. The doctor said it might take two or three months before my vision returns."
He gently squeezed Melissa's hand and continued with a faint smile, “So, our wedding might be postponed.
And Melissa, I meant what I said about supporting you if you decide to take the position at Heron. My stance won't change. If you still want to pursue your career there, you can always go for it, you know.
