Chapter: 3873
To Jeslyn, Daisy felt like a stranger. People said Daisy was her mother but Jeslyn couldn't fathom why Daisy had never lived with her and her father.

The ceremony wrapped up.

Albert scooped up Jeslyn. He gave her a kiss and nestled her head on his shoulder. No words were needed; he simply held his daughter close.

Though Jeslyn was the result of Daisy's affair with another man, Albert cherished her deeply.

He had looked into Jeslyn's birth father, a good-looking college student. Albert had even delved into the young man's family's medical history to ensure there were no inherited diseases.

Jeslyn also hugged Albert.

Next to them, Marcus and Melissa wore black, with white flowers pinned to their chests.

Melissa looked deeply mournful.

Marcus, however, observed Albert and the little girl, shaking his head softly. Finding out the girl's name was Jeslyn, he realized Albert still cared about Jessie.

He thought Albert had been a coward. He understood why Albert gave up on Rene back then since she was married. But Jessie was single, Marcus felt they should have been together when they had the chance.

He didn't see the point in raising a child that wasn't even his own and named her Jeslyn.

Turning to Melissa, he noticed tears in her eyes, so he put his arm around her shoulder.

After the funeral, the surroundings seemed even lonelier.

Albert brought Jeslyn back to Daisy's old mansion. It had been almost two years since he'd set foot here.

To his surprise, everything remained unchanged from when he'd last seen it.

The remaining servant hurried over, perhaps fearing she'd lose her job. "Mr. Waston, you're back!"

Albert nodded and then gently put Jeslyn down, saying, “Take Jeslyn to the backyard to play. I need to go upstairs."

The servant couldn't read his expression.

She reached to pick up Jeslyn but the girl resisted. Tears forming, she looked at Albert and cried, “Daddy!”

Albert's heart melted. He scooped Jeslyn up and headed upstairs.
