Chapter: 3972
Lettie dropped it.
Truth was, she knew Jessie's thoughts. She fretted Jessie might go back to Albert. She'd seen his persistence that night, feared he'd keep pestering Jessie.
Jessie escorted her mom home before going back to the studio.
After a busy afternoon, nearing eight o'clock, she was leaving work.
Opening her car door, Axell approached, gripping her hand. “Jessie, let's chat."
Jessie hesitated.
She gazed at him coolly, catching him off guard.
Their relationship was short-lived but still nice. Despite her previous warmth, now she eyed him like a stranger.
Axell pleaded, "Can we talk, please?"
Jessie knew he wouldn't give up, so she shut the door.
She faced him squarely.
"We're from different worlds, Axell! You aim for success and climbing up the social ladder but I just want a simple life. Last night you wanted to end things, now you've changed your mind? Maybe you think you care about me, but if you did, you wouldn't want to break up in the first place.
If I forgive you today, who knows if you'll change your mind again one day?
Will you reject that woman?
You won't! You'll convince yourself you had no choice. You're not cheating; you just can't say no."
With a solemn expression Axell murmured, "She's the director's daughter, Jessie. I can't—"
Jessie remained calm. "I get it. But I can't accept it."
"Love's a two-way street," she insisted.
She had made up her mind to break up with him.
With a faint smile, she recounted the mall drama. “Our parents clashed, Axell. It's done."
