Chapter: 3980
Alexis didn't seem to mind. She uttered a few additional words before departing. It wasn't until Alexis had gone that Jessie noticed Albert still gripping her hand. “Release me," she demanded.
Albert touched his face, sneering. “My arm's injured, and look at my face. Take me to the hospital."
Jessie recognized Albert's deliberate attempt to cling to her, but she remained steadfast in her rejection.
However, Albert guided her to the waiting car outside, where his attentive driver awaited, promptly opening the door for them.
Once inside the car, the driver passed a paper bag to Albert, remarking, “Mr. Waston, your breakfast."
Albert glanced at Jessie, inquiring, “Care for some?"
Jessie declined with a turn of her head.
Albert respected her decision, proceeding to retrieve documents from the car. He nibbled on a sandwich while perusing the documents, occasionally furrowing his brow.
Throughout their years together, Jessie seldom witnessed Albert fully engrossed in work.
She couldn't resist stealing a few more glances at him.
Suddenly, her hand was seized, and she heard his voice. “There's a crucial meeting later. Head to my office first, and I'll arrange for the driver to take you home afterward."
Throughout the exchange, Jessie had no chance to refuse.
Without awaiting her response, Albert turned his gaze to her, his expression distant yet tender. After a prolonged silence, he spoke softly. "Stop being stubborn, alright?"
Abruptly, he leaned closer and pressed a button.
The partition in the car was raised, creating a complete separation from the driver in front. Jessie felt tension in her body, suspecting Albert's intentions, but he surprised her by gently grasping her shoulder and revealing softly, "What I told Axell back at the police station was the truth. Jeslyn isn't my daughter."
Jessie was left reeling by Albert's words.
She struggled to comprehend their implications.
It never crossed Jessie's mind that Albert would assert that Jeslyn wasn't his own flesh and blood.
Jessie had no doubt about the truth in Albert's words. His love for Jeslyn was unwavering, and she knew he wouldn't fabricate such a claim just to appease her.
Jessie couldn't comprehend whose child Jeslyn might belong to.
