Chapter: 3990
As they walked towards Albert's room, Melissa informed Jessie that Jeslyn, refusing to be separated from her dad even for a moment, was staying together with Elsie in a small suite that was behind Albert's and was asleep there.
Inside the ward, a pale-faced Albert was leaning against the bed's headrest and was nodding along as his subordinates updated him on what was going on at his company, the Waston Group. When Melissa walked in with Jessie, he looked up at them and widened his eyes in shock.
Although they had met a few days ago and their relationship had moved forward a little, seeing Jessie now still surprised him. For her to come back so soon, was she finally warming up to him?
He smiled softly at Jessie and murmured, "You are here."
Since his subordinates were around, Albert made sure not to appear too ecstatic.
As Jessie walked up to him, Albert sat up and the thin quilt that was covering him slipped down to his abdomen, exposing the bloodstained white gauze that was covering his wound.
Without saying anything, Jessie, now pale-faced, lifted the quilt and stared at his wound.
Albert let her do what she wanted and then said smugly, “Seems Like you're worried about me."
Jessie raised her head slightly, her throat tightened as she suppressed her emotions, and asked, “Albert, are you aware that your spleen is injured? Shouldn't you be resting so as to have a successful recovery? Why on earth would you be getting yourself involved in work right now? What's wrong with you? If you die, would you take your money to the grave?"
Jessie's words made the senior executives of the Waston Group that were around mumble uncomfortably. They were afraid that Jessie was going to get into trouble for speaking to their boss like that.
She just acted in a way that none of them could dare to.
However, Albert simply continued to stare at her, his eyes weak and yet gentle. He cherished her current demeanor, admiring her boldness, sexiness, and lack of fear for him.
What's more, it had been quite some time since he dared to look at her so boldly.
For three agonizing years, he had wished and waited for this moment.
With a smile, Albert finally replied, “Why should I take my money with me to the grave when I can take you instead?"
With that, he gently placed his hand on her slender fingers and tried to pull her closer.
But Jessie was having none of it and shook his hand off.
Albert didn't complain and simply said, “I'll Listen to you and rest, okay? I plan on listening to everything you say from now on.”
Not buying his words, Jessie shook her head and said, “I just came to see how you are doing, and now that I've done that, I'll be on my way."
At that moment, Melissa walked up to the duo and adjusted the bed so that Albert would be able to lie down.
