Chapter: 4095
Despite the attention from various women in those parties, Leonel remained uninterested.
Sometimes, waking up early, he'd realize how long it had been since his last intimate encounter.
Come Friday night, he drowned himself in drink once more.
Jason, his driver, had to help him into the car. Eyes shut, Leonel mumbled, “Just take me home."
As Jason prepared to drive, a woman appeared in front of the car, startling him.
"Are you blind? Move out of the way!" Jason cursed.
Seeing the woman standing her ground, Jason stepped out of the car, frustration evident in his tone.
Leonel straightened his tie and glanced out.
It was Anika.
Seizing the moment, she hurried over, opening the door and pleading "Leonel, I've been trying to find you, but Noreen kept blocking me."
Anika hesitated.
The man before her was as handsome as ever, despite his cold demeanor.
He was nothing like the affectionate man she knew.
She couldn't believe it. He used to smile at her. He used to use her lap as a pillow. Were all those tender moments fake?
She refused to accept it.
Leonel avoided eye contact with Anika, his gaze fixed ahead as he spoke in a chilly tone. "Miss Cohen, what happened between us was merely a game. I never made any promises to you. Please refrain from contacting me again."
He harbored deep-seated resentment towards her.
Had it not been for her foolishness, Alexis wouldn't have divorced him. Their marriage wouldn't have unraveled as it did.
Despite his feelings, he still wrote Anika a check.
“You can stay in the apartment. Take this ten million as compensation," he said, his voice lacking any warmth.
