Chapter: 4156
Then, Leonel smiled slightly and placed his hand on her slender shoulder. “We should go now, Mrs. Douglas," he said.

Since their divorce, it had been ages since Leonel had addressed her as Mrs. Douglas.

Alexis found his choice of address somewhat peculiar.

As Alexis stood up slowly, Leonel's hand slipped from her shoulder, only to extend toward her again.

The setting sun bathed them in a captivating glow through the glass, but Alexis couldn't shake the feeling of its intensity.

She lowered her gaze, delicately intertwining her fingers with his as Leonel clasped her hand securely.

Although it was just another ordinary November night, there were still quite a few people milling about.

In the villa's driveway stood a sleek, black limo. Alexis recognized it as a custom bulletproof vehicle and couldn't help but quip sarcastically, "Since when did you become so cautious? Have you done something to make you fear for your life?"

A bodyguard dressed in black attire opened the car door.

Leonel guided Evelyn into the car, cautioning, "Mind your head as you get in."

Obediently, Evelyn climbed into the car, her spirits lifted by the rare opportunity to venture out.

With Evelyn settled, Leonel shifted his attention to Alexis. "I'm not afraid of death. It's just that we have two children, and you haven't forgiven me," he confessed.

Alexis found herself speechless under his sincere gaze.

As she leaned over to enter the car, Leonel gently grasped her waist.

Though Alexis tensed, she remained silent, settling into her seat.

Once Leonel was inside, the bodyguard closed the door.

The luxurious limousine provided ample comfort, and Evelyn chattered cheerfully throughout the ride.

Meanwhile, Alexis' mind was consumed with thoughts.

Gently, she stroked Evelyn's head. Oblivious to adult conflicts, Evelyn stared out the window. The scenery of Geveland was very different from that of Duefron.

Leonel observed Evelyn as well.
