Chapter: 4158
Evelyn was captivated by the star-shaped lights.

Squatting beside her, Alexis whispered, "Sweetie, I want to take you home. Promise me you'll stay close to me, and whatever happens, remain silent, alright?"

Evelyn blinked innocently, her expression tinged with confusion.

After a moment's pause, she whispered, “Are we returning to Duefron? Are we leaving Dad?"

Alexis didn't want to deceive Evelyn. She understood that she would have to eventually take her away, and sooner or later, Evelyn would learn that she and Leonel wouldn't be living together anymore.

She didn't say anything and only caressed Evelyn gently.

Evelyn hesitated briefly before lowering her head and approaching Alexis, whispering softly, “Mommy, I'll go with you."

Alexis’ emotions grew complex in that moment.

Despite her inner turmoil, she knew she had to act. She had to leave here within the next half-hour and then contact Waylen. Leading Evelyn towards the car, she made sure they stayed hidden from the driver's view by the side of the car.

As Alexis approached, the driver swiftly emerged to greet her. “Mrs. Douglas."

Adjusting her clothes, Alexis nonchalantly opened the car door.

“Leonel misplaced his cufflinks during our last ride. He tasked me with finding them," she explained.

She opened the back door of the car and leaned in to search.

The driver pondered the possibility of Leonel misplacing the cufflinks during moments alone with Alexis.

Such occurrences were not uncommon in high society.

Soon enough, Alexis beamed as she showed him the cufflinks, saying, “Found them!"

The driver breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to return to the car. Yet Alexis interjected, “Could you assist me in delivering these cufflinks to the banquet hall? Evelyn's in the restroom, and I need to check on her," she requested.

The driver hesitated, well aware that Alexis was strictly prohibited from leaving.

However, noticing Evelyn's absence, he surmised that Alexis wouldn't leave alone. Thinking it wouldn't cause harm to simply deliver something to Leonel and come back, he readily agreed.

In the darkness of the night, Alexis observed as the driver made his way into the bustling banquet hall, squinting her eyes to catch a glimpse of his movements.
