Chapter: 4224
He decided to take a walk to the end of the corridor to smoke and collect himself. On his way back, he encountered Albert and Jessie, the engaged couple who had come to visit Daniel.

Daniel appeared somewhat shy.

Jeslyn, having just returned from playing in the snow with soaked shoes and socks, was taken to the bed to get her socks changed.

Daniel had always been hesitant around girls, famously refusing to share a bed with them during nap time in kindergarten.

His cheeks were now a bright red.

Albert couldn't resist teasing him. "Are you running a fever again? Look how red your face is."

Jessie shot Daniel a sympathetic Look.

After a long pause, Daniel insisted, “I don't have a fever!"

He then cocooned himself in a blanket, too bashful to face Jeslyn, whom he remembered as the girl who once quarreled with Kiana over her puppy named "Minnie."

Observing Daniel's embarrassed demeanor, Albert found it amusing yet endearing. He mused that the Fowler boys, despite their serious exterior, were actually the type to have their own thoughts secretly brewed within. Matthew, not being raised in the Fowler household, seemed even more charming by comparison.

“That's enough. Stop teasing him. You're being childish!"

Jessie chided, worried Albert might push too far.

Albert looked at her, his voice low. "Fine, I won't tease the kids anymore. I'll just tease you instead. How's that?"

Jessie knew all too well Albert's playful shamelessness and chose not to engage.

She found his indulgent nature both frustrating and endearing. They were set to marry, yet he demanded she spend five days a week at his place, believing he was being gracious enough to give her the weekend off.

Jessie realized that her silent acceptance had fostered his possessiveness.

After their past challenges, both valued their current life deeply.

As they prepared to leave, Albert picked up Jeslyn, while Jessie walked alongside him.

The heavy snowfall from the previous night had blanketed the roads, but sanitation workers had largely cleared the way, ensuring smoother traffic. Albert carefully secured Jeslyn in her car seat at the backseat and then turned his attention to Jessie. "Are your shoes wet?" he asked with concern.

Jessie, seated in the passenger side, looked down. “My shoes are fine, but the soles of my stockings are a bit damp," she replied.
