Chapter: 4252
Quickly cleaning the newborn, the nurse handed her to Alexis. Despite the sweat on her brow and the strands of hair sticking to her face, Alexis turned to gaze tenderly at her daughter.

The baby was indeed beautiful, despite the wrinkled skin.

A wave of joy washed over Alexis.

She smiled at her daughter, though her complexion grew increasingly pale. Sensing the urgency, the doctor lifted the sheet, her voice shaking as she spoke, “Prepare the plasma and start a blood transfusion immediately. She's hemorrhaging."

Before she could say more, Alexis slipped into unconsciousness.

Time was critical. The medical team sprang into action, aware that the situation was dire. Outside, the tension was palpable.

Waylen intercepted a passing nurse, "What's happening?"

The obstetrician approached with a consent form. "Alexis is hemorrhaging. We've begun a transfusion. Don't worry, Waylen; we have enough supply. But I need you to sign this first," she explained succinctly.

Consumed by worry yet understanding the need for haste, Waylen quickly signed the document.

His hands shook so Rena steadied him, offering support with a gentle touch.

Without a moment's delay, the doctor hurried back into the delivery room. Soon after, the nurse emerged carrying Cordelia, the tender infant a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere. Tears welled up in everyone's eyes as they looked on.

Mixed emotions swept through the room; happiness at the arrival of the baby mingled with resentment towards Leonel.

Leonel's face was ashen as he touched the baby with trembling fingers, tears streaming down his cheeks. Marcus, unable to hold back, spoke in a low voice, "If you had been more considerate of Alexis' feelings, none of this would have happened. Did you not realize the pain childbirth would cause her?"

Leonel understood.

He had always known, but in his desperation to keep Alexis, he had acted irrationally, believing a child would bind her to him. Now, he realized that no number of children could anchor her affection; it only pushed her further away.

“I'm sorry. Dad, mom, I'm so sorry."

Rena found his apology unbearable. As a woman, she empathized deeply with Alexis' ordeal.

Waylen, struggling to contain his emotions, replied tersely, "Apologies are futile now."

The entire Fowler family was gripped by anxiety, all praying for Alexis' safety.

An hour later, the medical team finally brought Alexis back; she had received numerous bags of blood.
