Chapter: 4261
“Alexis, I don't need much. I just want to take care of you during the next two months. Let's give being a real couple a shot during that time. If it still doesn't work out..."
He trailed off. "Then I'll let you go."
Alexis' rosy lips paled.
She understood his meaning but had no time to dwell. She agreed.
But Leonel wanted more. Verbal promises weren't enough.
He sat, pulling a freshly printed document from the drawer. Looking at Alexis, he said, "I trust you, but still, let's make it official. Time's ticking. Death doesn't wait for anyone."
Red-eyed, Alexis stared at him.
Just like when they were kids, his tough exterior always softened as he coaxed her, yet now, he seemed unyielding.
She found it ironic.
Everything Leonel learnt from the Fowlers was now used against the Fowlers.
Without hesitation, Alexis signed the document, fingers trembling. As she did, Leonel reached over, holding her hand tightly. She flinched but he held on, whispering, “We're in this together now."
Alexis tensed her fingers slightly.
Ignoring him, she signed. Leonel murmured, “Finally we're back together, Alexis."
Suppressing her revulsion, she asked, “Can we go to the hospital now?"
Suddenly, he lifted her onto the desk, his hand between her waist and the cold surface. Drawing close, his handsome face serious, he whispered, "Am I really that heartless to you?"
"Yes," she said firmly.
She suspected Leonel had intervened but she stood her ground, angered by his threats.
A soft chuckle was heard.
Leonel leaned into her neck, smiling with a touch of bitterness.
Eventually, he hoarsely admitted, "The plasma was sent ages ago. But you're still mine, Alexis. You'll stick to the deal. You're a lawyer, right?"
