Leonel approached Alexis, placing his hands on her trembling shoulders. In a husky voice, he assured her, “It's not her, Alexis. She won't come back."

Alexis persisted in wanting to see the woman. Reluctantly, Leonel retrieved five hundred-dollar bills from his wallet and handed them to her.
