Chapter: 4333
Alexis lowered her head and broke into a bitter smile. Earlier that day, Hank had asked her whether she was still in love with Leonel.
She refused to answer the question. But right now, in the dead of the night, she couldn't lie to herself anymore. Some feelings were capable of lasting for a lifetime.
But she chose to stop loving this man anymore.
After standing at the balcony and staring at the opposite one for what seemed like a long time, Alexis didn't move any further.
Instead, she turned around and returned to her bedroom.
It was Saturday the next day, so Evelyn woke up early and came to see little Cordelia. Leaning on the edge of the crib, she stared at the baby girl with a smile. At some point, she couldn't help but pick Cordelia up.
It wasn't easy for her to carry her, but in spite of that, little Cordelia didn't feel uncomfortable at all. She tried to wrap her arms around Evelyn's neck and smiled merrily.
In response, Evelyn gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Cordelia giggled happily.
By the time Alexis came out of the bathroom, she saw Evelyn reluctantly putting Cordelia back into the crib. Knowing that Alexis was leaving for a business trip, Evelyn said to her thoughtfully, "Mom, when you're away, Daniel and I will take good care of our sister."
When Alexis heard this, she sat down on the edge of the bed and pulled Evelyn into her arms.
In the last few months, Evelyn had not seen much of Alexis, so she eagerly leaned against her chest and wrapped her arms around her.
“Mommy will take you and Daniel to Daddy's place later," Alexis assured her as she stroked her hair affectionately.
Evelyn was surprised to hear this.
"Are you serious?" she asked in disbelief.
"Of course, I am," Alexis chuckled, and gave her a kiss. "Go and tell Daniel about it. Then both of you should pack up your stuff. I'll take you there when you guys are done packing up."
Frankly, Evelyn missed her father very much. Even though she called him often, it was very different from seeing him in person.
But all of a sudden, she stopped in her tracks and turned to ask Alexis expectantly, "Mom, can we bring Cordelia along?"
Alexis thought for a while before she replied, "No problem. You can bring her along."
When Evelyn heard this, she ran out of the room and went to share the news with Daniel. The little boy was very happy to hear it, but he pretended to be indifferent.
