Chapter: 4345
“You should eat something," she admonished as she sat down beside him.

Marcus closed his eyes and sighed.

He felt increasingly tired these days. Holding his wife's hand, he whispered to her, “It's late, my dear. You didn't have to prepare anything for me. I'm not even hungry."

Melissa understood him very well. She knew that he really had no appetite. But she needed him to eat.

“Just have something. There are still many things to do tomorrow," she pleaded. “Alexis needs to take care of her children, you know. That will leave you to handle most of the things on your own. Come on, Marcus, please just eat something."

Marcus didn't say anything at first. But after a while, he patted Melissa's hand and sat up on the sofa.

Then he took the food from her hand and said with a faint smile, "Alright then. I'll eat something. I have no choice but to listen to my wife."

Melissa couldn't help but smile at this.

Though she pitied her husband and would like to stay with him a little longer, she had to remember the fact that being a member of the Fowler family, she had many responsibilities to carry out at the moment. So she left Marcus and went downstairs to deliver food to other people.

Later that night, Leonel remained seated in his wheelchair due to his inability to move his legs easily. He was silently mourning Korbyn in his own way.

By this time, Alexis came downstairs, and they exchanged a glance.

Both of them had deep sadness in their eyes. Right now, they had no will to think about their own emotional entanglements and future plans.

After standing on the stairs for a while, Alexis began to gently run her fingers over the railing.

Slowly, she came up to him, with the intention of adjusting the blanket that was spread over his knees. But the moment she touched his left leg, Leonel instinctively grabbed her hand.

His grip was so tight that Alexis felt hurt.

"Leonel!" she whined.

Leonel suddenly came to his senses and noticed the tears in her eyes.

“I'm sorry," he apologized.

Then he quickly let go of her hand.

Alexis stood upright and stepped back from him. “It's late. You need to go back to your room and rest," she admonished.
