Chapter: 4349
Meanwhile, Leonel silently watched her as she walked away.
They had grown up together, so he knew her very well. He knew what she would be thinking right now. She was most likely thinking about how heartless he was... how everything they once shared meant nothing to him.
Even when she had left his sight, Leonel still stood there, staring.
Before he knew it, his hand had crushed the glass he was holding and the red liquid stained his hand.
He didn't know whether it was wine or blood on his hand.
Hester quickly rushed to his aid, partly out of concern and etiquette but also partly out of the intention of being ingratiating. "Mr. Douglas, let me bandage it for you," she offered.
She was a shrewd woman.
Though she knew that Leonel was using her for his benefit by parading her as his girlfriend, she noticed that there was no one around him to take care of him. Despite the fact that he had a little disability, he was still very wealthy and handsome.
Hester had worked hard for more than ten years and could only afford to live in a small house in Duefron. She knew that if she could get married to Leonel, she would be able to make it into the upper class.
With this in mind, as she helped Leonel with his injury, she intentionally pressed her soft body against him.
Her goal was to seduce Leonel.
But Leonel pushed her away roughly, and she staggered back, almost falling to the ground.
Looking down at her, he said in a cold voice, "Always ensure you know your place."
Hester felt so ashamed. But after a moment of silence, she offered in a softened tone, “At least, let me help you to the car."
But Leonel refused.
His leg had greatly improved in the past few days, and he could now walk on his own albeit unsteadily.
Apart from Alexis, he didn't care what others thought about him.
Since the person he loved the most had left him, he had no one and nothing left to care about.
So, he limped out of the banquet hall in full view of the crowd.
He didn't use his wheelchair nor was Noreen by his side. He was all alone.
