Chapter: 4409
He treasured this stolen moment.

Throughout this night, he held her as if she were a precious treasure.

The rain eventually stopped, leaving the night exceptionally quiet.

Occasionally, the sound of raindrops falling from the eaves outside the window broke the silence.

He paid attention to the gentle patter of raindrops.

Leonel couldn't remember the last time he felt this serene. Holding Alexis in his arms, it felt like they were back to their younger days.

No matter how lengthy the night felt, it would eventually come to an end.

As the first cloud appeared in the sky, casting a hazy glow in the morning light, he leaned down to plant a gentle kiss on Alexis's forehead. Slowly, he released her hand. As he withdrew, her fingers stretched out, as if grasping for him.

But he still wanted to leave. How could she keep him from leaving?

When he left, he presumed she would acclimate, much like when he traveled abroad, and then he just sent a letter to break up with her.

Initially, she might feel sorrowful, but eventually, she would move on with her life.

It was the same this time.

Leaning in, he planted a final kiss on her lips. “You'll be better off without me."

In the subdued light, he silently retreated, slipping out of the bedroom and out of her tranquil existence.

When Alexis woke up, it was already dawn.

Touching her dizzy forehead, she shifted in bed and groaned softly.

Opening her eyes, she realized she was in Leonel's villa.

Memories of the previous night flooded back to her.

She had been feverish, and Leonel had tended to her, wiping her body and even kissing her.

Despite being in a semi-comatose state, Alexis remained conscious.
