Chapter: 4419
Leonel gestured for her to sit beside him. "I'm reviewing a project proposal for a collaboration with Pryor Technology. It looks promising, but I'm hesitant about partnering with them."
He withdrew a cigarette from his pack but left it unlit.
Turning to her, he explained quietly, "Raphael Jones, the president of Pryor Technology, was Olivia's boyfriend back in college. Their breakup was messy, and based on our recent meetings, I suspect he still has feelings for her. I just can't decide."
Alexis reviewed the document and noted its potential.
She faced Leonel, puzzled. "Why bring this business matter to me though? You're the businessman, Leonel. Surely, Raphael's personal feelings shouldn't overly concern you."
Leonel looked at her intently, a playful edge to his voice. "Miss Fowler, I have no idea you maintain such a firm line between personal and professional matters. Did that young man today manage to sway you?"
After a moment, Alexis' voice was hoarse as she asked, "Do you really want to know?"
Alexis fixed her eyes on Leonel.
Leonel remained silent as he stared back at her.
Eventually, he replied with a similarly hoarse tone, "It's late. Time for bed."
He then began to organize his belongings, preparing for the night.
Leonel rarely spent the night at the Fowlers’ now, likely to sidestep any gossips, particularly since his divorce with Alexis. However, his car had broken down upon arrival, and with no word from Ross yet, he opted to stay the night this time His bedroom remained unchanged.
"Good night," he murmured to Alexis as he ascended the stairs.
Aware of his evasion, Alexis didn't press further. She offered a gentle smile and echoed, "Good night."
Later that night, Alexis found herself awake unusually late, perhaps stirred by the snow outside.
She reveled in the silence of the snowy evening.
Restless in bed, she thought she could hear the whisper of snowflakes touching the ground. Drawn to the scene, she rose and approached the window to gaze at the wintry night.
The room was dim, lit only by the soft moonlight from outside.
The chill night air felt sharp as needles, and the snow seemed to sting.
Moisture fogged the French window, a result of the temperature difference. Alexis breathed on it gently and then traced two names with her slender, pale fingers-Alexis, Leonel.
