Chapter: 4443
Alexis looked at him, and after a pause, she whispered, “Are you staying this time?"
Leonel returned her gaze.
After a moment, he grasped her fidgeting hand, leaned in for a kiss, and murmured, "I'm not going anywhere."
Their conversation paused as Cordelia appeared at the doorway.
The little girl toddled along.
The servant, seeing both Leonel and Alexis in the bedroom, felt it inappropriate to enter and quickly ushered Cordelia in before retreating downstairs. Upon seeing Leonel, Cordelia's face lit up with a smile, and she ran towards him with open arms.
A few steps later, Cordelia tumbled to the floor.
Alexis started to rise from the bed to help her, but Leonel gently held her back, saying softly, “Let me."
He then scooped up Cordelia with one arm.
Cordelia's eyes sparkled with excitement as she experienced something new.
Leonel sat at the edge of the bed, allowing the little girl to step onto his right leg. Initially, Alexis was anxious about Cordelia stepping on Leonel too hard, but as she watched her daughter move cautiously, her worries eased.
After some playful moments, Leonel affectionately rubbed Alexis' nose.
"It's time to get up. The kids are all awake. Don't stay in bed too long."
Alexis remained silent.
Tears welled up in her eyes, but Leonel didn't press her for a reason. Instead, he gently placed Cordelia on the floor, then Lifted Alexis' face and settled her head on his lap.
As she lay there, tears began to flow, dampening Leonel's trousers.
He was fully aware of her crying but chose to simply stroke her hair, providing comfort silently.
After some time, he said softly, his voice raspy with emotion, "Alexis, if you keep this up, it's going to be very hard for me to hold back."
A blush crept over Alexis’ cheeks.
She rested against his firm thighs and murmured, “It's early in the morning, and you're already thinking about this. Our daughter is still here. That's inappropriate."
