Chapter: 4569
She had much to say to her son, yet she didn't know how to begin.
Later, her thoughts grew more scattered.
In her final moments, she forgot Olivia and Leyla. Her mind drifted back to when her husband was alive. While she wasn't always content during those days, there were moments when she found happiness.
As Kiley passed away, she repeatedly called out Raphael's name in a faint voice.
Finally, she breathed her last in Raphael's arms, having departed without the chance to see Olivia and Layla one final time.
The paramedics shared a silent glance with each other.
Raphael choked back tears as he held Kiley close.
Upon Olivia's arrival at the hospital with Leyla, Kiley had already been taken to the morgue.
Raphael quietly sat by her side.
At the entrance, Raphael's assistant rushed to greet Olivia and whispered, "Ms. Evans, please assist me in comforting Mr. Jones! He's been silent this whole time."
Olivia nodded slightly.
She entered the room with Leyla. Hearing the footsteps, Raphael knew it was Olivia. He spoke in a somber tone. "My mom is gone, Olivia."
Olivia was taken aback by his words.
She desired to console Raphael, yet she found herself at a loss for words. In truth, aside from their college years, Olivia could only reminisce about their time on the island.
Suddenly, she felt overwhelmed by an odd sensation, unsure of what to say.
Meanwhile, Leyla Likely felt out of place in the solemn atmosphere.
The little girl squirmed in Olivia's embrace, murmuring anxiously.
Cradling Leyla, Olivia bowed respectfully toward Kiley's body before turning to Leyla and whispering softly, “Leyla, this lady was a friend of Mommy's."
Although Leyla didn't really comprehend what Olivia was saying, she lay in Olivia's arms and gazed at Kiley with curiosity. After all, she was just a child barely two years old and naturally couldn't grasp what was happening.
Olivia gently placed the baby girl into Raphael's arms.
With Kiley having paid the ultimate price with her life, dwelling on the past seemed futile.
After mourning their loss, Olivia turned her gaze towards Raphael.
It was Raphael's first time holding Leyla, so he appeared somewhat apprehensive. Conversely, Leyla behaved calmly, fixing him with her innocent gaze.
Raphael held her tightly in his arms.
