Chapter: 4601
"Olivia!"
Raphael stood behind her, calling her name softly. His voice, perhaps too gentle, momentarily confused Olivia, leading her to mistake him for someone else. In a daze, she briefly believed it was Dylan.
But when she turned around, it revealed Raphael instead.
Raphael couldn't help but notice the desolation and pain in her eyes.
A pang of sorrow tugged at his heart.
Nonetheless, he maintained a gentle smile and inquired, “What brings you to stand here alone? Where is your secretary?"
Olivia returned the smile, replying, "She went to get the car. We're a small company, so we try to save costs by not hiring a driver."
Silence lingered between them.
After a prolonged pause, Raphael queried in a hushed tone, “You and Dylan..."
Olivia hesitated to broach the topic of her relationship with Dylan, particularly in Raphael's presence. Given the very reason for their divorce, she felt averse to addressing it directly. Instead, she offered a faint smile and replied, "We're still friends."
Gazing deeply into her eyes, Raphael inquired, “Like we are?"
Detecting a hint of inquiry in Raphael's eyes, Olivia recognized the maturity that came with the passing years. She understood his unspoken question about the potential between them. She understood his unspoken question about the potential between them.
After a brief contemplation, Olivia replied honestly, "Not quite so."
A flicker of disappointment crossed Raphael's face.
After a pause, he inquired softly, “How is Leyla?"
"She's doing well," Olivia replied.
In the solitude of the moment, Raphael's voice took on a hushed tone as he broached a sensitive topic. “Olivia, if you haven't found anyone suitable, maybe you could consider me. Even if it's without love, at least we could.."
He hesitated, unable to articulate his thoughts.
Once spoken, such words couldn't be retrieved, like spilled water.
After a moment of contemplation, Olivia responded earnestly, “Raphael, I don't want to deceive you. At the same time, I also want to stay true to myself."
Raphael understood what she meant.
Respecting her decision, Raphael ceased his persuasion. They stood together in silence. Olivia shared something about the little girl, while Raphael updated her on the current situation of some of their college classmates. They used to love each other, but now they just talked about the past Like old friends.
One had moved forward.
The other, however, might find the memories indelible.
