Chapter: 4627
However, the situation between Dylan and Olivia was far from simple.
It was evident to Edwin that Dylan still harbored feelings for Olivia.
Moreover, Dylan had narrowly escaped death in the accident.
With his gaze directed downward, Edwin contemplated silently. Perhaps Dylan deserved a second chance after everything he had gone through!
When Laura stepped onto the balcony, Dylan had already descended the stairs and slipped into the awaiting car.
Turning towards Laura, Edwin enveloped her in his arms, his chin resting lightly on her shoulder as he teased, “Laura, your dear Dylan has returned. Are you thrilled? Brace yourself for his frequent appearances from now on. Isn't that just splendid?"
Laura's cheeks flushed instantly upon hearing Edwin's words.
Despite her age, Laura couldn't help but feel a tad embarrassed whenever Edwin teased her.
She nibbled on her lip and retorted softly, “Why should I be ecstatic?" After a brief pause, she continued. "Moreover, Dylan and I are merely friends from the past, Edwin. It's hardly cause for celebration."
With a gentle smile, Edwin planted a kiss on her cheek. "Well then, let's go back to sleep."
After saying that, he led Laura back to the bedroom.
Since that night, Dylan had been making regular visits to Olivia's place.
Their interactions didn't involve formal dates.
Instead, whenever Dylan had free time from work, he would head over to Olivia's and take charge of the kitchen, whipping up meals for her and Leyla. He would engage in playful activities with the little girl. Her favorite game was tossing and chasing a ball around the house. Eventually, Dylan started bringing Dolly, his dog, along, much to Leyla's delight.
Although Dolly was already six years old, she was smart enough to tell that Leyla was still a baby.
Therefore, Dolly displayed remarkable gentleness towards the baby girl.
Dolly not only engaged in playful antics with Leyla but also allowed her to ride on her back. And when exhaustion inevitably set in, they would cuddle up on the couch for a nap.
One sunny afternoon, Leyla nestled against Dylan, her innocent eyes fluttering with fatigue.
Eager for a bedtime story, she struggled to keep herself awake, her energy spent from playing with Dolly. Eventually, her eyelids drooped, and she succumbed to sleep.
Seeing that Leyla was asleep, Dolly also decided to close her eyes and take a nap.
After putting Leyla to bed, Dylan sat on the edge of her bed, tenderly wiping away stray beads of sweat.
Leyla's attachment to Dylan was evident as she clung to his arm, reluctant to release her hold even in her sleep.
With a soft smile, Dylan reclined beside her, cradling the sleeping child in his embrace. Before long, Leyla had drifted off into a deep sleep.
After spending some time with Leyla, Dylan rose from the bed and sought out Olivia.
