Chapter: 4723
Edwin wrapped his arms around her gently, resting his chin on her hair.
“Why aren't you asleep?" he murmured.
Laura, however, remained silent. Nestled against Edwin's chest, she felt a deep sense of security. Truth be told, she had never been one to harbor grand ambitions. Marrying Edwin had been her ultimate dream, one that had already come true.
After some time, she whispered, “Do you think Olivia and Dylan will mend things"
Edwin's voice was soft and soothing as he responded, "I'm not sure."
Olivia nodded silently, her response subdued.
As Dylan turned and walked towards the kitchen, Olivia's gaze lingered on his retreating figure, her feelings a tangle of emotions.
She touched her lips thoughtfully, still processing the sweet, confusing moments they had shared.
As soon as Dylan turned, he caught Olivia lost in thought.
Her expression was a mix of many feelings.
He understood that the kiss was a spur-of—the-moment act, driven by recent events, and didn't signify Olivia's acceptance of him; he wouldn't pressure her either.
Because his love for her was deep, and the child she was expecting was his own.
In other words, it was his responsibility to keep them safe and sound.
After warming the soup, Dylan positioned himself at the bedside. He propped Olivia up with extra pillows instead of letting her sit up by herself, ready to feed her.
However, Olivia refused it.
Looking down, she said softly, "Dylan, about earlier..."
Though she was still not ready to accept him, Olivia's voice had softened. Understanding her hesitation, Dylan responded kindly, "I understand it meant nothing! It's okay if you can't forgive me yet. I'll leave once the baby is fine! Olivia, I won't push you into anything. I'll wait for you to be ready to see me."
Tears filled Olivia's eyes upon hearing his words.
She found it too awkward to voice many thoughts.
"Just try to eat something for now. You'll need it," Dylan continued gently.
The light cast a warm glow, and his tender expression reminded Olivia of their early days of marriage, when Dylan was similarly kind. It felt like a flashback, yet everything had changed now.
Finally, she took a sip of the soup with tears streaming down her face.
Seeing her cry, Dylan felt a pang of sadness...
After she ate a little, Olivia lay back down. Dylan went to clean the dishes and then came back to the room. Meanwhile, Olivia rested, her eyes closed.
