Chapter: 4744
Luckily, Raphael shielded her with his arm.
Yet a few still managed to strike Elissa's face. The thick and foul~smelling Liquid trickled down her cheek, leaving her feeling utterly humiliated.
Elissa had never faced anything quite like this before.
She stood there silently, observing as the security guard took charge of the woman and threatened to escort her to the police station.
Meanwhile, Raphael gently wiped the liquid off her face with a tissue.
He appeared so caring.
With the foul-smelling liquid still on her face, Elissa turned to Raphael and asked in a subdued voice, “Is that woman Sandra's mother?"
After a brief pause, Raphael nodded.
"Yes! That woman is Sandra's mother," he said.
Despite the bright and warm sun, Elissa felt a chill upon hearing his response. The cold sensation seemed to seep into her bones... she suddenly felt desperate.
On the opposite side, Sandra's mother persisted in her accusations, exclaiming, "You ungrateful people! My daughter is still hospitalized. How dare you defame her in this manner! Where is your conscience, huh?"
Suddenly, Elissa pushed Raphael aside and approached the woman.
The woman had attempted to scratch her face, but the security guard held her firmly, making it impossible for her to break free.
Fixing her gaze upon the woman, Elissa spoke in hushed tones, her voice edged with frustration. “It's your daughter and Raphael who erred. Why unleash all your fury on me? Surely she couldn't have been unaware of Raphael's engagement, given their shared workplace. Moreover, news of our relationship was widespread. And yet, you lay blame on me for me telling the truth at the press conference? Why not hold Raphael accountable instead of directing all your wrath towards me? I bet you wish I would lose my baby or divorce Raphael in a fit, so that your daughter could take my place, don't you?"
Hearing Elissa's words, the woman was stunned and averted her gaze.
After a moment, she argued, “My girl is disabled now. She has no future."
She looked utterly desperate as she murmured.
Begging Elissa to divorce Raphael, she pleaded, "Miss Palmer, you're intelligent and come from a wealthy background. Finding someone else would be effortless for you. I implore you to spare my daughter. Mr. Jones is her only solace."
However, Elissa simply ignored her.
She was a kind person, but she was stupid. After all, she hadn't done anything wrong throughout the whole ordeal... She simply tried to protect herself and her child in her own way.
Thinking of this, she paid no further attention to the woman and left it to Raphael to handle the situation.
She knew Raphael wouldn't have her sent to the police station.
After all, she was Sandra's mother, so he wouldn't do such a thing.
Elissa entered the car first. After giving some instructions to the guard, Raphael followed her lead.
