Chapter: 4782
By this time, Raphael had gotten into the car. He took a quick look at them through the rearview mirror, and smiled faintly.
"Well, you don't have any Luggage, so we have to first get you some clothes," he said to Brantley. "Fortunately, I have some money set aside for you from the amount your father had left."
“Really? How much do you keep?" Elissa asked curiously.
"Well," Raphael shrugged, “for now, I've kept fifty million dollars for rainy days. We need money for his clothes, food and school fees. Later, he will start his own family and even buy a house when he meets his dream girl. All these things would definitely cost a fortune."
Elissa knew fully well that Raphael meant well.
Starting a business was no easy task, and he might not be able to easily achieve his goals.
But Raphael, on his part, didn't want Elissa and their child to worry about how they would get the money to care for this new addition. He would just cover the expenses with Yousef's money.
Elissa thought about it for a moment before she finally understood what Raphael meant.
She went through a lot after the passing of her mother. But fortunately for her, she married a considerate man Like Raphael.
“Hey, is it because of the hardships you went through as a child that has made you so shrewd?" she asked him.
"Yeah, you're right," Raphael concurred as he started the car.
“Unless you think I was born to be a domineering rich guy."
"You are domineering, indeed," Elissa snapped, chuckling.
As they bantered with each other, they didn't pay any attention to Brantley. But the little boy listened attentively to their conversation. As he listened, he kept inching closer and closer towards Elissa.
When Raphael noticed this, he cautioned him lightly, “Well, well, keep a distance from my wife, young man."
After his initial shock at the sudden rebuke, Brantley quickly moved back to his former position.
Elissa glanced at him for a moment before handing him a stuffed animal they had in the car. After all, he was only eight years old, yet he had lost his parents. Elissa could more or less understand how insecure he felt at the moment.
She couldn't help but think of Raphael who had also lost his father when he was very young.
Perhaps Raphael's growing up without the love of his father was why he was so headstrong that he didn't want to put aside the so-called dignity, which eventually led to his break-up with Olivia.
If there had been someone to help Raphael and teacher him how to love properly when he was a child, perhaps his relationship with Olivia would have turned out differently.
"What are you thinking?" Raphael suddenly asked her when he noticed that she was a bit absent-minded.
Elissa leaned back against the seat and sighed, “I'm just thinking about your childhood."
Raphael didn't say anything at first. But after a while, he blurted out, "That was a long time ago, Elissa. Anyways, we have two children to raise now."
“If my memory serves me right, there are three of them for you,"
