Chapter: 4793
Along the way, Leyla's excitement bubbled over as she sang a nursery rhyme she had recently learned. Despite her off-key singing, Raphael found it endearing.
But as soon as she finished her song, Leyla began sneezing and tearfully rubbing her eyes.
Raphael pulled the car to a stop, quickly wiping away Leyla's tears before dashing to the pharmacy for some relief for her.
Looking at her, he sighed. “You're such a fragile little one."
Leyla bristled at his remark.
Her lips formed a pout as she muttered, "Huh! If you think I'm too much trouble, you can send me back to Uncle Edwin."
With that, she lowered her head, a hint of sadness in her eyes.
Feeling remorseful, Raphael asked in a low voice, “Are you upset because I haven't visited you in a while?"
After Raphael posed his question, Leyla kept quiet.
Her little fingers gripped the hem of Raphael's shirt tightly. Kids couldn't hide their feelings well, and her need for him was obvious.
It was clear she missed him.
Raphael felt a lump rise in his throat.
He gently pulled her into a hug. Her dependence touched him deeply, and he felt thankful to have her as his daughter.
Leyla wiped her snot on his shirt. Then she cautiously asked, "Is there a new baby coming?"
Raphael crouched to meet her eyes, giving her rosy nose a gentle squeeze, saying, "In a few months, I will have a new baby. But you'll always be my first."
Leyla blinked at him.
After a moment, she asked, "How many babies do you have?"
Raphael chuckled, unable to hold back his laughter.
He planted a kiss on her cheek and said, “Just you for now, and one on the way."
Leyla rubbed her belly, grumbling that she was hungry. She didn't want to go to their usual spot. Instead, she wanted to eat at a place called Baby Bear Restaurant. She said it was really good, even though she had only been there once.
Raphael slipped into the driver's seat.
He began looking up Baby Bear Restaurant in the navigating system. He was surprised to find it actually existed, right near Edwin's company.
He figured Edwin must have taken her there before.
With the navigation set, he started the car. When he glanced back, he saw Leyla's big, adorable eyes watching him.
