Chapter: 4816
Elissa nodded in affirmation.
Leyla remembered the time she accidentally killed a bird her grandfather cherished. That day, she had thought about running away to avoid punishment. Would she never be able to return home if she left that day? Then it was better to stay inside. What if she got lost and couldn't find her way back?
They continued talking for quite some time.
After Jarvis had his fill, he hiccupped. "Is he going to sleep now?" the little girl whispered.
Holding his son, Raphael replied softly, "Yes, babies usually sleep most of the day."
"I used to do the same." Leyla nodded in agreement.
Watching her father move towards the crib, she paused to think, and then jumped out of bed.
Before leaving, she made sure Elissa was tucked in comfortably.
Elissa was momentarily taken aback, but then she smiled warmly.
And the little girl clung to Raphael. As he cradled Jarvis in his arms, she wrapped her arms around his legs, showing her attachment.
Elissa suggested, "Take the children out for lunch. I'll take care of Jarvis by myself. I'd like to get some rest."
“What if he needs a diaper change?" Raphael expressed his concern.
She smiled reassuringly. “The nurses here will help.”
Raphael agreed. He didn't leave with the children until he had set up water for Elissa and saw that Jarvis had fallen asleep. They then headed to the hospital's cafeteria. The food there wasn't great, but Brantley seemed to enjoy his meal.
He was sick of the Light food the hospital provided for them.
To him, Leyla was like a saving angel.
As a delicate child, she showed little interest in the food and ate sparingly. Raphael playfully pinched her nose and encouraged her to eat more to grow stronger.
Motivated by her father's words, she ate heartily.
She then asked her father eagerly, “Can I bring my little brother home for a few days?"
Raphael chuckled. "He's too little. You wouldn't know how to care for him."
Undeterred, she persisted, "I can feed him milk. I've watched how Mom looks after Eason. I know how to handle a baby."
He playfully pinched her nose and replied, "Jarvis isn't a pet."
Leyla felt a bit embarrassed.
She simply wanted a pet like other kids, to watch it grow... However, she wasn't drawn to cats or dogs. A baby seemed like the perfect option, especially since she was so fond of Jarvis.
