Chapter: 4903
Luis snapped out of it first, reaching for his phone. "I'm canceling the show. Arrange for a car to pick us up."
But then he realized-no signal!
Elva, too, checked her phone to find she had no reception.
She was tall and elegant, her backpack slung casually as she ventured inside the house to investigate. The provisions were basic—just some food, and astonishingly, no separate bedrooms!
Were they expected to share a room?
Luis followed her inside. Elva folded her arms and declared, “You can sleep on the couch tonight."
Luis gave a wry smile. “Miss Fowler, where exactly is the couch?"
The absence of a couch, coupled with a lack of the promised cameras, was suspiciously convenient.
He strolled into the small bedroom and stretched out on the bed, hands behind his head.
“Just endure it for half a month! After that, you won't have to see me anymore. You can go back to your blind dates... I heard about your last date with a bald guy! Have things really come to that?"
Elva set down her backpack and retorted sweetly, "I'd take a bald man over a playboy any day!"
She edged closer to him provocatively, "At least they don't reek of cheap cologne like some people!"
It was a clear jab at Holley.
He caught the insinuation instantly.
Amused yet irritated, Luis looked down and caught a glimpse of Elva with her eyes closed, lips slightly parted, looking unexpectedly enchanting. He reached out towards her involuntarily, his voice turning husky. "Elva!"
She jolted awake.
Opening her eyes, she snapped back to her usual sardonic self, "What's the matter with you! We have nothing to each other now!"
Realizing his lapse, Luis lay back, silent, chastising himself for losing control.
He should have been more restrained.
Elva, seeing he hadn't moved, kicked him lightly, "Get up and cook!"
