Chapter: 127
She looked calm and composed. She seemed certain to win.
"Is there something wrong with Kabir?" Brian asked, remembering the bean curd Rosalynn had cooked.
She must have prepared the dish on purpose in order to expose Kabir.
"| suppose so," Rosalynn replied, avoiding divulging too much information.
Brian's gaze fixated on her, feeling an inexplicable discomfort from her newfound indifference.
She hadn't treated him this way before. It must be because of Eleanor.
"| didn't bring Eleanor to Neham. It was her idea. I've always thought you were more than capable as my assistant," Brian blurted out, surprising Rosalynn, who quickly composed herself.
"Thank you for your recognition. | will continue to be your assistant in exchange for your generous pay," Rosalynn responded calmly.
Brian's expression darkened, regret flickering in his eyes.
What was he doing?
Why did he feel the need to explain himself to her?
“Brian, where are you? We're ready to leave."
Eleanor's voice came from not far away.
Rosalyn cleared her throat and said, "I need to go to the bathroom."
Brian's eyes narrowed as he watched her retreating figure.
He turned on his heel and strode away with a cold expression.
Inside the bathroom, Rosalyn was still thinking about what Brian had just said.
She didn't expect the arrogant man to bother explaining Eleanor's presence.
Was he trying to somehow ease the relationship between them?
But it was a working relationship, nothing more.
Rosalynn was simply his subordinate. Brian had no reason to coax her.
Rosalynn took a deep breath and reminded herself what a bastard the man was. It didn't matter how much she liked him, she could never be with him.
