Chapter: 18
"Mr. Hughes."
Eleanor mustered her most charming smile and approached Brian.
Brian's brows furrowed into a dark scowl the moment his eyes landed on Eleanor.
"How did you know I'm here?”
The smile froze on Eleanor's face. Even a fool would know that Brian was in a foul mood.
"Lasked Edwin."
"What do you want?"
Brian took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and stood in front of the massive French windows. There was a significant chill in his tone.
“Well, there's a party I'm attending this weekend. Do you think you can make time and be my plus one?"
Eleanor sidled up next to Brian and began rubbing against his arm.
The cloying scent of her perfume washed over him.
Brian pocketed his cigarettes again. He pulled away from her with a frown and walked back to his desk.
"I'm afraid | don't have the time.”
He wasn't nearly half as interested in her as he had been that night.
Perhaps it was the drug at work, but he had found her utterly irresistible back then.
“Mr. Hughes...”
"I have work to do. Please leave."
Brian had nothing more to say to her. He picked up the documents he had been perusing earlier and got back to work.
"All right. Don't tire yourself out. I'll be going now."
Eleanor was mortified.
Brian was acting cold toward her again.
Had she come at a bad time, maybe?
Meanwhile, Rosalynn headed straight to the bathroom after leaving Brian's office.
She stared at her blushing face in the mirror and splashed some cold water against her cheeks.
What was she getting so excited for?
