Deal! I'd love for you to take advantage of me," Maggie joked.

‘Are you silly?" Rosalynn teased.

Their laughter filled the room once more.

Post-dinner, Maggie swiftly cleared the table, while Rosalynn assisted in tidying the guest room.

“Rosalynn, I noticed your impressive book collection. You must come from a literary family, right?" Maggie asked, her eyes full of admiration. jo, I'm actually an orphan," Rosalynn revealed, smiling.

Really? You're an orphan? I never would've guessed!" Maggie gasped.

"Well, I was adopted by a fascinating old man," Rosalynn explained, a fond smile tugging at her lips as she thought of Calvert.

“Wow, Rosalynn, your life must be quite a tale."

“Isn't everyone's?" Rosalynn replied with a smile, her gaze falling on the novel in Maggie's hand. Curious, she raised an eyebrow.

"Are you a fan of that genre?"

Maggie's face lit up as she clutched the book.

“Sunshine was originally an online novel! It gained such a following that it was eventually published.

Bettina Carman, the author, has a captivating writing style. Her characters are so intricately crafted, and even though it's a romance novel, it's incredibly uplifting.

There are three unique couples featured in the story. I've always admired Bettina. If she signed the book, I'd treasure it even more."

Maggie was undeniably a devoted fan.

Rosalynn smiled reassuringly.

“Maybe you"1l get that chance someday.”

A signature?

She could offer one right now, if only Maggie knew the truth.

As Maggie recounted the novel's plot excitedly, a sudden noise from upstairs interrupted their conversation.

“What's happening? Are the neighbors renovating or something?" Maggie grumbled, glancing at the ceiling.

Rosalynn frowned, and before she could respond, another unsettling sound echoed through the room.
