Chapter: 813
Karina froze.
He was asking her to buy him underwear?
She felt slightly flustered.
“Is that a problem? I can always ask Rosalynn to do it,“ Barlow teased deliberately.
"I'LL go." Taking a deep breath, Karina spun around and exited the room.
The room fell silent.
The smile on Barlow's face faded. He removed his hospital gown and put on his shirt.
After a while, someone entered the room.
With a lingering gaze, Barlow took in the figure before him.
“Kennedi, it's been a while."
Kennedi Reed stood there, shrouded in a black dress. A singular white petal-shaped trinket graced her hair; a stark contrast against her dark attire.
Her choice of clothes painted a melancholic picture, as if she was paying respects at a funeral.
If Rosalynn were present, she would recognize Kennedi as the same woman she had an encounter with by the bathroom door.
Kennedi bore into Barlow with her eyes; a tumultuous ocean of emotions lay within them.
“Barlow, you've been quite heartless," she accused, the sorrow in her voice carrying an undertone of resentment.
On hearing her words, Barlow paused midway through buttoning his shirt.
He cast a sidelong glance at her and heaved a sigh.
“I'm sorry," he said, his voice quiet.
Kennedi closed the gap between them.
“Barlow, did you ever love me?"
Unable to meet her defiant gaze, tainted with resentment, Barlow averted his eyes.
"I'm sorry.”
