Chapter: 2886
"Ah..." The nanny's shout filled the air. It was a raw note of agony.
The impact of the hit was fierce.
She writhed on the ground, clutching her belly and groaning. “Who... Who kicked me?"
The nanny looked around in confusion. But the moment her eyes met Jarrod's, her voice got caught in her throat. It was Jarrod. Fear washed over her as she remembered her many misdeeds. "Sir..."
Jarrod stepped forward. His gaze was cold as he towered over her.
“Who gave you the right to go after him? Haven't you read the guidelines for handling my son?"
Austin's health was frail, and the rules were clear Austin couldn't get upset or do excessive activity. A wild chase like this was certainly not allowed.
“I didn't...“ The nanny's voice quivered with fear as she inadvertently glanced at Vicki.
Jarrod had no desire to hear her out. His command cut through the air. “Pack your things and leave!"
Panic gripped the nanny. Losing this job meant losing a well-paying position she doubted she could replace. Her eyes flicked to Vicki again.
Vicki was seething. What a fool! What was the nanny thinking? She had never instructed the nanny to treat Austin like that before everyone. The nanny was really an idiot. And there the nanny was, looking at her for help right in front of Jarrod.
Vicki was so infuriated that she wished she could claw the nanny's eyes out. She said meaningfully to the nanny, “Hurry up and leave before Jarrod loses his temper."
Then, Vicki winked at the nanny.
The nanny got the hint and knew Vicki would make it worth her while.
Scrambling to her feet, she said with her head bow, "I'm sorry. I was thinking clearly just now. I'll gather my belongings and leave..."
Just then, Austin shouted, "No! Daddy, you can't let her leave."
Jarrod turned to Austin and asked, "What's the matter?"
Austin pointed accusingly at the nanny and declared, "I caught this bad nanny sneaking something into the soybean milk. She gives Kamilah the same medicine. She mixed it in and told me to drink it, but I spat it out when she wasn't looking."
At Austin's words, both the nanny's and Vicki's expressions changed dramatically. This kid was sharper than they'd expected. He had noticed them giving the medicine to Kamilah, something they had done with utmost secrecy. And most shocking of all, he had discreetly spat out the medicine.
Given Austin's fragile health, Vicki had calculated that it wouldn't take more than three meals for him to die. She never thought this little guy could be so smart...
