Chapter: 1899
Only when Jennie was sure Keilani had really gone did she peek out.
She stayed in Tyrone's arms, made a face, and asked, “Tyrone, am I badly hurt? Am I going to die? "
"No, you've just got a bruise. You'll get better with some rest,"
Tyrone reassured her.
"Do I have to stay here the whole time?"
"You'll be able to go home in a week."
"So, I don't have to go to school this week?"
"I could have your teacher come here," Tyrone teased.
"Oh, no! Please don't." Jennie frowned and suddenly looked thoughtful.
She glanced out of the window and said quietly, “Tyrone, was there a camera at the intersection where the incident happened?"
“Yes, the police have already identified the car that hit you. Why do you ask?"
Jennie replied cautiously, “When we were crossing the street, it was crowded. The car wasn't going fast, and many people managed to get out of the way. But I was the only victim. Everyone thinks I couldn't react in time because I'm young. But the truth is, I could have moved. Someone pushed me, and then I got hit."
Tyrone's expression darkened upon hearing her words. “I'll have them send the surveillance footage to me immediately."
"Okay."
Tyrone pulled out his phone and dialed the police. “My daughter's awake. She mentioned someone pushed her just before the car hit her. Could you double-check the surveillance for me?"
There was a brief pause on the other end. "Could she be confused due to her injuries?"
"No," Tyrone replied firmly.
“But... I've just reviewed the footage, and it appears her mother was right behind her..."
Tyrone, taken aback, requested, “Please, email me the footage." He gave the officer his email address.
Minutes later, an email notification popped up on his phone. Without hesitation, Tyrone opened the video.
