Chapter: 1973
Bettie was simply defending them, and Sabrina didn't want to argue with a close friend over someone she didn't know, saying, "You're right. I'll talk to Tyrone later to find out what happened."
Bettie rolled her eyes. "If it were up to me, I'd keep Jennie away from that side of the family. The more she's involved with them, the closer she gets to Keilani. If Keilani didn't have her eye on Tyrone, it would be one thing. But it's clear she's after him and will do anything to get him. And given how Keilani turned out, I wouldn't trust that family. They might try to sabotage your relationship with Jennie."
At first, Bettie wasn't keen on Sabrina making up with Tyrone, but she seemed to be warming up to the idea. It was like people only valued something when someone you disliked wanted it, making you not want to give it up.
"Let it go. I've moved on," Sabrina stated firmly. She was tired of the drama and the what ifs. Had she not been over it, she wouldn't have moved out after finding out Jennie's biological parents, instead of demanding Tyrone choose her over Jennie. If Keilani ended up with Tyrone, it would only prove Tyrone wasn't fully committed. Her intervention wouldn't change anything. There would always be another Keilani.
As for Jennie, she would undoubtedly hold a grudge against Keilani.
The “accident” caused by Keilani was something she might never forgive.
At the fancy Starriver Bay Villa, Tyrone paced back and forth by the giant windows.
When Lance's car showed up, Tyrone dashed out even before it stopped, catching Lance just as he unlocked the car door.
Tyrone flung open the back car door, arms wide for Jennie.
“Tyrone!" Jennie wriggled to the side, hugging Tyrone tight. As he lifted her, there was a sudden smack on her behind.
"Ouch..." Jennie looked up at Tyrone, puzzled and hurt. “Tyrone, why did you hit me?"
Tyrone shot her a look and shut the car door. “Figured it out yet?"
With a pout, Jennie guiltily hung her head.
Tyrone sighed, his voice stern. "We'll talk about this later."
Then, Tyrone turned to Lance, serious. "Let's make sure this doesn't happen again."
Lance, still in the car, only rolled down the window to respond, "Got it. I'll give you a heads-up next time. I must go. Take care, Jennie. Bye."
"Bye."
With Jennie in his arms, Tyrone headed home.
Jennie rested on Tyrone's shoulder, waving goodbye to Lance.
Back in the living room, Jennie squirmed. “Tyrone, you can put me down now."
