"Lift her up a little more," another voice added.

Bettie realized the people around her had local accents, distinct from the foreigner who had pushed her down.

"Be gentle. Let's not hurt her. Right then, a voice she recognized cut through the noise."

Startled, Bettie managed to whisper, "Lance?" Her voice was hoarse from too much screaming.

"Yes, it's me," Lance replied, his voice wavering a bit with emotion at her voice. "How are you feeling now, Bettie?"

"I'm... I guess I'm fine," Bettie said with a bit of uncertainty, managing to stand firm on the ground with the support of those nearby. Her heart pounded furiously, signaling she had narrowly escaped danger.

Lance hurriedly took off the black blindfold she had on.

The sudden exposure to sunlight made Bettie blink and squint, barely able to open her eyes. She then saw Lance looking at her, full of concern.

"Other than the bungee jumping, did he do anything to hurt you?"

Lance asked.

"No."

“That's relieving to hear." Lance let out a relieved sigh. "I'm just happy you're safe."

As Bettie looked around, she realized she was on a bungee jumping platform, with the staff busy detaching her safety gear. Driven by curiosity, she inquired, “I ended up here without my consent and was unconscious. Didn't anyone notice?"

One of the staff members answered with an apologetic but strained smile, "I'm sorry, ma'am, but the park doesn't open till 9:30. I had just got here and noticed the lock to the platform was messed with. When I came up, we found you here, hanging... We've already reported the break-in and will be tightening our security to avoid such situations again."

Bettie didn't know what to say. “Alright, then. Guess it's pointless to call the police," Bettie muttered to herself.

The ropes had already been untied.

The staff member said, "Ma'am, you're free to go back now. Should we have any updates, we'll contact Mr. Carter."

"Alright."

Lance supported Bettie. “Let's head out."

Bettie nodded, took a step forward, and nearly fell, her legs failing her.
