Chapter: 2034
Once Lance finished the remaining tasks, he and Bettie headed to their new home.

“I'm exhausted," Bettie said as soon as they were in the car. She stretched and yawned. “I need to sleep for a bit. Wake me up when we get there."

Bettie had been up since three in the morning for the preparation of the wedding. It was truly exhausting for her.

"Okay, get some rest," Lance said tenderly, his gaze on her affectionate.

Ignoring his tender look, Bettie closed her eyes, yet the speech he had delivered during the wedding popped into her mind. "I worried you had moved on and we couldn't go back. I acted cool, hiding my true feelings..."

ALL of a sudden, the memory of the high school reunion flooded back to Bettie. At that time, Lance was indeed quietly distant, just as he had said. That was to say his speech during the wedding had come straight from the heart.

Suddenly, Bettie felt a pang of emotion.

Amid her inner turmoil, she gradually drifted off to sleep as weariness overtook her.

Upon waking up, Bettie found herself in the dimly lit bedroom of their villa, with no lights on. She stretched, got out of bed, turned on the light, and observed the unfamiliar bedroom, feeling out of place.

Heading into the bathroom, Bettie noticed her toiletries arranged on the shelf, with men's items next to hers. She pursed her lips and removed her makeup.

Leaving the bathroom, she explored the walk-in closet. Her clothes were neatly arranged in one cabinet. On the other side, men's clothes were hung.

Bettie chuckled at Lance's arrangement of his belongings positioned next to hers.

Living in a large house wasn't necessarily a positive thing. Bettie searched for Lance on every floor and finally discovered him cooking in the kitchen on the ground floor.

Noticing her arrival, Lance flashed a smile. "You wake up? Please wait in the dining room. Dinner will be ready shortly."

"Okay." Bettie nodded, scrutinizing Lance's meticulous movements in the kitchen. She wasn't sure if it was just her perception, but he seemed the very image of an ideal husband.

"Just make do for tonight. The housekeeper starts tomorrow."

"Sure." Bettie asked casually, "Why did you put your toiletries in the bathroom of my room?"

Before the wedding, they had agreed to sleep in separate rooms with her in the master bedroom and he in the secondary bedroom. Each room in the villa was spacious. The only difference between the master and secondary bedrooms was their layout.

"That was your idea, remember? Two sets of necessities in each bedroom, just in case your mother comes to check on us." Lance raised his eyebrow.

“Oh, right."
