Chapter: 2038
“My pleasure."
Just then, Bettie and Amirah walked up. “What's going on?" Bettie inquired casually.
"Here is the thing..." Corless began, giving a quick rundown. He glanced at Lance with fatherly pride. “Look at Lance, always so well -connected."
Bettie arched an eyebrow and shot Lance a knowing look. Such a coincidence?
Their eyes locked briefly. Lance, with a slight smile, averted his gaze.
After the meal, Amirah suggested Lance and Bettie relax in Bettie's room.
Once inside, Bettie lowered her voice and asked, "Are you behind this?"
“What?"
"Come on. Stop pretending."
"Yes," Lance admitted, nodding. "We just got married. Your dad wouldn't involve me in his business for no reason, but we're short on time."
With this incident, Corless trusted Lance more now than ever. Only in times of trouble would Lance get the opportunity to step into the Ramirez family's business.
Seeing that Lance had taken the initiative so early to fulfill the agreement, Bettie smiled at him and said, "If you need my help, just let me know."
"Sure." Lance looked around Bettie's room.
Bettie's bedroom was an elaborate suite, linking the master bedroom to the study, a walk-in closet, and a private guardroom.
In a corner of the walk-in closet, Bettie located a suitcase and opened it. She planned to pack some essentials for their stay at the villa.
“Do you need a hand?" Lance offered as he approached.
"No, just sit there.”
“I think I should help.”
From the doorway, Bettie instructed, “Grab some books from the desk in the study and the small black bags hanging on the wall. And... Well, that box on the table."
“Got it." Lance went into the study, gathered the books and black bags, and placed them in the suitcase.
