Chapter: 2052
After pondering for a while, Tyrone figured Lance must have intentionally hidden the truth. Otherwise, with Bettie's temperament and the bad blood between her and Keilani, why would she marry Lance?
No wonder when he first met Lance, he suspected Lance had mixed heritage, but Bettie denied it.
Tyrone decided to keep it under wraps from Sabrina and Jennie. Once home, he shut himself in the study, stood by the window, and dialed Lance's number.
At that time, Lance was busy packing for the business trip.
Seeing Tyrone’s name on the screen, Lance raised an eyebrow and answered, “Tyrone? What's going on?"
“Miss Ramirez doesn't know your real identity yet," Tyrone stated firmly.
Lance replied with a serious tone, "So what? What are you proposing?"
"How about we strike a deal?"
"Shoot."
"I'll help you keep this secret until it comes out or Miss Ramirez discovers it herself. And you help me keep Keilani at bay and prevent her from returning to Zimbab."
As Keilani's release from jail was around the corner, Tyrone was sure she'd be sent back to Philade but doubted she would linger there for long. Keilani might still return to Mathias after a while. Just her presence in front of him and Sabrina under the pretext of visiting Jennie would make them uneasy.
Tyrone didn't want to constantly deal with Keilani's antics, nor did he want to be on guard against her actions all the time. He feared her actions might disrupt his relationship with Sabrina again. His bond with Sabrina was as fragile as paper and easily torn by any disturbance.
Lance grinned. "Mr. Blakely, you're quite the strategist. I heard Jennie's back from Philade? She's bonding well with Bettie."
Lance knew he'd meet Jennie as Bettie's husband one day, and his secret would be out. He wasn't sure if he could ask Jennie to keep quiet about it. The butler had already briefed him on the events at the mansion on his wedding day.
Lance analyzed that Tyrone's sudden realization and call today must have been because Jennie had mentioned to Tyrone that Bettie's husband resembled him. Since his cover would be blown someday, why strike this deal then?
Tyrone got Lance's point. "Even if Jennie finds out later, you'll have time to prepare. You're sharp and you can minimize the fallout. That's probably why you conveniently timed your business trip. But what happens if Miss Ramirez learns your true identity now?"
Tyrone figured, considering Bettie's fiery temper, she'd likely rip up the agreement with Lance, "divorce" Lance on the spot, and never want to see Lance again.
Tyrone had a point. Lance had timed this business trip strategically, hoping to delay the revelation of his true identity and give Bettie a hint. But he hadn't counted on Tyrone figuring it out before that time. What seemed like a deal was actually a thinly veiled threat.
After a moment's pause, Lance conceded. “Well played, Mr. Blakely. Alright, I'll agree to the terms."
“I hope you'll honor your end of the bargain.”
