Chapter: 2080
Claire glanced around and whispered, "Marnie isn't producing any breast milk!"
Claire had never been fond of Marnie, and the knowledge of the premature birth and the necessary incubation only deepened her disapproval.
When it was time for the baby to be discharged, Claire was shocked to discover that Marnie was not lactating at all, meaning the baby would need to be exclusively on formula. This revelation left Claire speechless.
Although Claire had prevented Marnie and Sergio from officially registering their marriage, Sergio had been a model husband to Marnie.
Apart from the 1.3 million cash and 0.2 million worth of presents Sergio had gifted to Marnie, he also had a house registered in her name. He even arranged for Marnie's relative to attend a reputable school in Mathias. What was worth mentioning was the designer clothes, shoes, bags, and smartphones Sergio had gifted Marnie throughout their relationship.
Shirley, taken aback, inquired, “Why isn't she able to produce milk?"
“It might be her body's response... Possibly linked to the premature birth."
Originally, the nanny tried introducing foods known to enhance milk production, but nothing worked for Marnie. Massages were ineffective as well. Even the nanny was confused, having seen women with low milk supply, but never someone who couldn't produce any milk at all.
“Why did Marnie have a premature delivery?"
Claire sighed. "I heard she fell down the stairs by accident. What was she thinking, climbing stairs while pregnant?"
“You mean you heard about it?" Shirley's eyes shadowed with suspicion.
The reason Shirley had a premature birth was because she accidentally fell down the stairs.
“Yeah. By the time Sergio and I arrived at the hospital, the baby was already born." Claire frowned.
At first, Claire harbored a suspicion that Marnie might have orchestrated the so-called falling to cover something up. However, she quickly dismissed such thoughts after Sergio conducted a paternity test, confirming the child was indeed his.
“When was the baby born?" Shirley probed.
Claire paused briefly before responding, "At seven in the evening.”
That was four hours after Shirley's birth.
Shirley's heart raced. Why did Marnie have a premature delivery, and why was it that members of the Blakely family were coincidentally not around? Why was Marnie unable to produce milk?
Shirley connected the dots and deduced boldly that Marnie wasn't the baby's biological mother at all.
Despite the lack of any concrete evidence, various details led Shirley to strongly suspect that the baby Marnie held was actually her own.
