Chapter: 2097
The moment Zandra laid eyes on Keilani, her heart clenched, and her eyes filled with tears that threatened to overflow. The very idea of her beloved youngest daughter having endured such hardship broke her heart.
Hopefully, this experience would teach Keilani a valuable lesson, preventing her from bullying others again.
When mother and daughter met, they exchanged looks heavy with unspoken words.
Zandra soon noticed that Keilani had become timid and awkward since her return.
Kaleb, leaning on his cane with a stern expression, warned Keilani, “Stay put in Philadelphia and don't go anywhere else. Cause any trouble, and I swear I'll break your legs!"
Kaleb expected Keilani to snap back, but instead, she looked terrified, quickly responding, "Dad, I know I messed up. I promise you won't see that again. I'll listen to Lance. Please don't lock me up again. Don't."
As Keilani spoke, she started shaking with fear like she had seen something super scary.
Kaleb found himself speechless.
“Keilani, there's no need to be scared." Zandra, with her heart heavy with sorrow, stepped forward to console her daughter. “It's alright. Mommy's here, and your father only wants what's best for you."
"Mom..." Keilani's trembling ceased as she looked at Zandra with fearful eyes. "Dad wouldn't really lock me up, will he?"
“No, sweetheart, he won't, as long as you follow the rules," Zandra hastily replied.
"Don't worry. I'll do whatever Lance says. Can you ask him not to be angry with me anymore?"
"I will, Keilani. How are you feeling? Why don't you go back to your room and rest a bit?"
“Okay.”
As soon as Keilani left, Zandra's face darkened. “What exactly did Lance do? Why is Keilani so terrified? Did something happen in the detention center?"
Zandra's tone carried a trace of irritation toward Lance, and she even began to silently blame Bettie, whom she hadn't seen in person yet.
Kaleb shook his head. "There are cameras inside. Ever since Keilani was brought in, I've had the footage sent to me every single day.”
Kaleb had made sure Keilani was safe, always having a backup plan to ensure she wasn't mistreated.
“Then why is Keilani so..."
“Maybe she just hasn't fully recovered yet..."
