Chapter: 1059
If he couldn't fix things, maybe he wasn't right for Cece after all.
With that, she walked away with Claudia.
Bennett didn't look away from Claudia until she was out of sight. He gave Benico a detached glance, then turned to Darnley and said, "Come with me."
Feeling the intensity of Bennett's stare, Darnley hesitated.
“I'm not coming. I've got stuff to do."
Jolie tapped Darnley's hand, advising, "Listen to him. Your brother wants a word with you."
"Hom!"
Was she clueless? What could Bennett possibly want to chat about?
Darnley had a sneaking suspicion it was more of a scolding than a chat.
However, he kept those thoughts to himself.
He was well aware that while his mother might appear cunning, she was quite the opposite.
“Hurry up!" Jolie urged once more.
Darnley had to accompany Bennett as they left the banquet hall.
Bennett led him to the hanging garden on the second floor without hesitation.
“You have any problems with me?"
Though Darnley rarely took issue with Bennett directly, Bennett's words irked him. With some trepidation, he countered, “Isn't it obvious?"
With a mocking smirk, he continued, "You know what today signifies, right? Why did you have to bring her here to upset our dad?
Bennett's laughter held a chilly undertone.
"I'm fully aware of today's significance. But it seems you've completely forgotten."
Darnley's expression tightened. He indeed almost forgot it.
Today marked the passing of Bennett's mother.
Bennett shot him a frosty look, warning, "One more ill word about her, and I can't promise your little girlfriend will keep her entertainment career."
Darnley knew Bennett wasn't bluffing. He could do as he said.
Many years ago, Bennett had also given Benico a warning: should Benico disturb his mother's resting place, he'd ensure Benico never knew peace.
