Chapter: 1068
After a brief pause, his gaze shifted to Claudia, and he added, “Perhaps it's best if she doesn't accompany you."
Darnley believed he had chosen his words euphemistic enough, given that Benico's original words were, "Ask him not to bring that indecent woman back."
Bennett glanced at the cake he held, his previously soft expression now somewhat cold.
Darnley bit his lip and said, "I didn't say that. Dad's the one who said it!"
With that, he turned around and walked away.
Standing there, Claudia felt a little embarrassed.
Was she going to eat the cake or not?
It was abundantly clear that Benico didn't like her!
Shortly after Darnley's exit, Bennett took the cake from her grasp.
Just then, a waiter conveniently walked by, carrying a tray.
Bennett gestured to the waiter, placing the two cake pieces on the tray.
"Get rid of these, please. Thank you."
He then clasped Claudia's hand, saying, “Let's go home, my wife.”
Not far away, while Benico talked to Hans, he occasionally cast glances at Bennett and Claudia.
As he noticed the untouched cake, his expression hardened. Muttering under his breath, he cursed Bennett, “What an ungrateful son!"
Hans, surprised by the comment, noticed Benico's steely gaze fixed on something. Following Benico's line of sight, he spotted Bennett and Claudia leaving together, hand in hand. The scene told him all he needed to know.
While aware of Benico's disapproval of Claudia, Hans held a different opinion. He found her to be a kind-hearted and helpful person, although he recognized her modest background.
With a knowing smile, Hans remarked, "Benico, times have changed.
It's the era of young people now. You're retired; don't worry so much!"
Hearing his words, Benico looked away and said, “It's not that I wish to meddle, but their actions draw my concern.”
Hans simply offered a gentle smile, choosing to stay silent.
Having known Benico for years, Hans was well-acquainted with his character.
Hans had to concede that when it came to temper, both Benico and Bennett shared a similarity; neither was willing to yield first.
Such matters couldn't be resolved with mere words. If Benico didn't learn to let go, he might live with regret.
