Chapter: 1081
"He can't catch up with us."

Without delay, he started the car.

The cemetery's gate faced a spacious area, eliminating the need for a reverse. Bennett made a sharp turn to speed away.

In the rearview mirror, she could see that the guard stamped his foot in anger with a flashlight.

Observing the situation, Claudia couldn't help but feel sorry for the guard, who had the misfortune of encountering them at this late hour.

She mentally apologized to the guard.

The car went farther and farther, and the guard could no longer be seen clearly in the mirror.

Taking a deep sigh, Claudia felt a sense of relief.

She whispered to herself, "At least we won't hit tomorrow's headlines."

“Headlines?” Bennett tilted his head, casting Claudia a knowing glance.

Claudia fidgeted with her earlobe, saying, "Had we been caught, the guard might've called the cops...”

“Why so?"

Speaking of this, Claudia felt nervous.

She couldn't confess to Bennett that she and the guard were actually old acquaintances.

At first glance, Claudia hadn't recognized the man, but when she saw him in the rearview mirror, a sense of familiarity hit her.

He was the same guard who had apprehended her and Aurora half a decade ago.

He had truly proven his loyalty and competence through five years of dedicated work.

"I... just had a hunch."

As they approached a red light, Bennett's lips curled into a smile, but he chose not to question her further.

Their journey from the cemetery to the city center took a while. By the time they entered the town, the clock neared midnight.

When they arrived at the villa, it was five minutes to 12 o'clock.

Claudia was feeling quite sleepy. Seeing her yawning, Bennett suggested that she take a shower once they got home.

Claudia wiped away the tears from her eyes, accepted a cup of water from him, and sipped as she headed to her room.

After her shower, her sleepiness had somewhat faded.
