Chapter: 1249
She wanted them to figure it out together.
Unsatisfied with Bennett's vague response, Claudia asked, "When do you think we should try having a baby?"
He lowered his head and kissed her on the lips. "I haven't really thought about it."
Truth be told, he hadn't considered children as part of his future.
He was a selfish and possessive man. He didn't even want a child if Claudia was willing to forgo it.
He simply wished for Claudia to prioritize him above all else, without the distraction of having a child.
But those were thoughts he didn't voice to Claudia.
"You decide when you're ready for a child."
Sensing his initial reply seemed dismissive, he then gave a more thoughtful answer. “Look, if you get pregnant before you turn thirty, great. If not, maybe it's not meant to be."
Claudia was a little surprised and asked, "So, are you saying we won't have a child if I don't get pregnant before I turn thirty?"
He ran his fingers through her hair casually and answered indifferently, "Yeah."
"But..."
Truth was, she hadn't spent much time thinking about whether to have kids. The whole idea felt big and undefined.
In fact, she liked children very much, but the thought of being a mom herself? That gave her pause.
She had assumed that Bennett, being a few years older than her, would have already made plans for such matters, and she could simply follow his lead.
But now he was leaving the decision up to her, and it left Claudia feeling confused for the first time.
"Don't stress over it; we've got four more years to think."
"We've been so careful, though. Getting pregnant could be tough, right?" Claudia questioned, clutching his hand.
Her mind flashed back to a moment earlier when Bennett had torn open a condom package.
Claudia swallowed and blushed again.
Claudia pushed aside her distractions, struck by a thought. “Hold on.
Bennett, you don't actually want a child, do you?"
"No, I don't."
Bennett was known for being indirect, so his blunt admission made it clear: he truly didn't want children.
