Chapter: 1259
In the quiet of the room, the zip sounded piercingly loud. Claudia, resting her head on his shoulder, could feel her face with burning with embarrassment.
She was flustered.
Had Bennett not pulled back, she might have completely surrendered to the moment.
Once her dress was fixed, Bennett gently helped her off the desk.
Feeling unsteady as her feet hit the floor, she instinctively clung to Bennett once more.
"Your legs are weak?"
He cradled her in his arms, gazing down at her with a smile.
"No! Absolutely not!"
Her cheeks blushed again.
Just outside the office door, Baylor and his colleagues turned to Jackson, puzzled. "Jackson, weren't we asked to come up by Mr. Dreskin?"
They were there, yet there was no word from their boss.
Jackson gave Baylor a quick look and simply said, “Yes.”
"S0...2"
Baylor was itching to knock on the door. But he didn't dare to because he was afraid of Bennett. "Jackson, it's nearly six o'clock.
How long will we be waiting here?’
Jackson understood their eagerness to leave, but considering Bennett's stormy mood after the meeting, it seemed Likely that any meeting now would end in a reprimand.
And if he knocked now, interrupting Bennett and his wife, the consequences would likely extend beyond a mere scolding.
Jackson couldn't simply tell Baylor and the rest that Claudia's presence was the reason they couldn't just barge in.
In just two seconds, Jackson came up with an excuse and said, “Baylor, there was a project meeting earlier today. You're aware of that, aren't you?"
Baylor was aware, but since he wasn't part of that project, he didn't attend that meeting.
Jackson wouldn't bring up a meeting they weren't part of without a good reason. There was a deeper meaning in his words.
Baylor had been with the company for many years, so he wasn't naive.
It didn't take long for him to grasp Jackson's intention.
Right after the meeting had ended, Bennett had wanted them summoned.
