Chapter: 1310
Bennett smiled. "The truth will reveal itself in the future."
"What?"
A sudden knock interrupted the moment.
Claudia instinctively looked to the door. Marcia's voice came outside the door. "Mr. and Mrs. Dreskin, lunch is ready."
“Okay, we'll be down in a bit.”
After lunch, Claudia returned to the piano for practice.
By two in the afternoon, fatigue had set in, and she felt a bit tired as she walked into Bennett's room. Engrossed in a book, he looked up and put it aside. "Finished practicing?"
"I'm feeling a bit tired," Claudia admitted, a hint of embarrassment in her voice.
As she noticed him opening his arms, she hesitated briefly before deciding to walk over and embrace him, gently rubbing his arms.
Bennett gazed down at her as she yawned. His deep-set eyes reflected tenderness. “Would you like to take a nap?"
Claudia covered another yawn with her hand and blinked at him. “What about you?"
“I'll join you."
Wrapping her arms around his neck, Bennett stood up and carried her to the bed.
Claudia suddenly remembered that she hadn't changed out of her clothes. Subconsciously, she pulled away the quilt and said, "I have to put on my pajamas."
After quickly leaving the bed to change from her clothes to her pajamas, Claudia, who had been taking regular naps for several days, fell asleep as soon as she lay on the bed.
The curtains in the room were drawn, and the light was dimmed, creating a cozy atmosphere. Unlike Claudia, Bennett wasn't in the habit of taking afternoon naps.
After Claudia had fallen asleep, Bennett lay quietly on the bed, reading the company's documents on the tablet PC. While he read, he could hear the peaceful sound of Claudia's soft, rhythmic breathing.
Suddenly, his muted phone vibrated, causing him to frown and wonder who could be calling. Picking up the phone, he discovered it was a call from Breck. Bennett got out of bed and walked outside to answer the call. “What's up?"
"Do you fancy a round of cards tonight? Bring your wife along.”
"I'll ask her when she wakes up. Anything else?"
"Can't we have a chat?" Breck asked helplessly.
“I have nothing to talk to you about."
Breck picked up on the tension in Bennett's voice and the lack of small talk, which made him realize that the call was about to end.
He quickly asked, "Hey, does Claudia know what's been going on between Aurora and me?"
