Chapter: 241
“Here, we have plenty of mineral water in the fridge," Claudia offered, pulling out a bottle and placing it before Jolie.
Clearly annoyed, Jolie slammed the table, demanding, “Don't you know how to treat your guests?"
“I do, but you're no guest of mine,"
Claudia retorted, lips curving into a sly smile, her eyes squinting. It suddenly dawned on Jolie that Claudia was hardly taking her seriously.
Tired of playing this game, she decided to cut to the chase. "I think you're quite intelligent."
Claudia had managed to secure a marriage with Bennett just two months after the groom fled from her previous wedding. Jolie realized she had severely misjudged Claudia's acumen.
She had underestimated Claudia in that moment.
Swallowing her rage, Jolie straightened up, her arrogance returning.
“I'd rather not be here, but for Bennett's sake, I must. I will not allow a woman Like you to become part of the Dreskin family!”
Despite Jolie's harsh words, Claudia kept a smile plastered on her face. "Quite the double standard, wouldn't you say?”
Claudia's words stung Jolie, clearly mocking her for being nothing more than Benico's mistress.
Jolie seethed with anger, her hands trembling as she pulled out a check from her bag. "Here's fifty million dollars. Divorce Bennett within three months, and it's all yours."
Claudia examined the check, verifying the amount. Once confirmed, she calmly responded, "Sorry, but I'm not that desperate."
Claudia knew better than to trade her marriage for such a small amount of money.
As if anticipating Claudia's response, Jolie smirked and produced another check.
“Here's an additional fifty million dollars. Divorce Bennett within three months, and the total hundred million is yours." One hundred million dollars
Claudia felt a Lump in her throat. Honestly, she was tempted.
Over the past few years, her family's business had steadily declined. Their annual revenue was less than a hundred million dollars, and the profit margin was even smaller.
Society considered Anthony to be leagues ahead of Claudia, and this wasn't unfounded.
Jace was ill-suited to business, and it was miraculous he had kept the company afloat until now.
The offer from Bennett's stepmother was incredibly generous. If her marriage to Bennett wasn't a sham, she might have considered it.
One hundred million dollars!
Jolie's offer was very tempting.
If she accepted it, Jace could retire comfortably, and she could afford to be more selective with business ventures.
