Chapter: 299
Mulling it over, she realized that indeed she had been too soft-spoken. Oh well, she was so young and naive back then.
Claudia Let out a sigh, putting an end to her introspection.
There was no need to worry anymore. She had full confidence in Joann's capabilities. It was only a matter of time before Patty's manager would be contacting her.
Yet, compared to this, her priority was to appease the upset Bennett. This was proving to be more challenging than dealing with Patty. Resting her chin on her palm, Claudia examined her reflection in the vanity mirror, pondering over what could have possibly upset Bennett.
She traced her face with her index finger and was lost in thought, but was still clueless about her fault.
On their way back, she had said a few things. Despite thinking hard, she failed to identify which of her words had stirred Bennett's anger.
Claudia decided to quit overthinking and went for a direct approach to calm him down.
She began her peace offering by removing her makeup, washing her face, and changing into comfortable cotton pants and a short T-shirt. With a box of mango candy in hand, she knocked on Bennett's door.
“Bennett, it's me."
Claudia knocked twice, but to no avail.
Was he really that furious?
Just as she was about to leave, the door opened.
Seeing the man in front of her, Claudia instantly regretted her decision to knock.
"Come in."
Before Claudia could respond, the man had already turned his back to her.
What else could she do but go in?
This was her second time in Bennett's bedroom and she felt more at ease compared to her first visit.
Bennett had shed his coat but was still in his shirt, with the top two buttons undone, revealing a part of his collarbone.
His slightly stretched legs and relaxed posture made him appear casual and more approachable.
Claudia sneaked a glance at him and blushed. As her eyes met Bennett's, she felt a surge of guilt, causing her hands to tremble.
“What is it?"
Claudia hastily placed the candy box on the table, uttering, “I had my friend bring me two extra boxes. They're quite good, don't you think? This one's for you."
With that, she nudged the box towards him.
“Thanks," replied Bennett indifferently, not even sparing a glance at the candy box.
